edit:

I am coming to Carnival.

April 19th is Bicycle Day.

I do not currently have a place to stay in Pittsburgh. I am looking for crash space; How Much Do You Love/Like/Have-The-Capacity-To-Tolerate Dave?

depending on who "you people" are, plane tickets are probably necessary to see any significant quantity of them at the same time. I'm not sure this opportunity exists without explicit planning and motivation otherwise. they should call it convenience-ival

on the other hand, money is expensive, and time is hard to come by. i have no real advice.

also, it would be good to see you. I seem to have left that out :)

with regard to crash space, if you get no offers and are desperate, let me know.

(sub-optimal arrangements follow)
my parents live far away from campus where i'll be thu/sun/mon, and i'm at the holiday inn for fri/sat that might be splittable an additional way if we can figure out a way to share sleeping space.

Not entirely helpful, but: If there ever was a year to come, this would be it, because so many people are coming back so it's a chance to see the entire "old gang," as it were.

On the other hand, if there ever was a year not to come, this would be it, because there will be so many people here that any chance to see specific people will be fleeting as everybody rushes around to see everybody else that they haven't seen in years.

So it really depends on whether you prefer long conversations with people or chances to briefly catch up with everybody. Not helpful, I know, but sometimes I've found it's easier to make decisions when first presented with specific pluses/minuses.

I can offer crash space if you're interested, although I doubt you'd take me up on it. =P

Carnival is logical-homecoming: no one comes back for homecoming, because everyone comes back for carnival. If you want to see people, there isn't a better time until Carnival next year.

When I visited for CTFWS a year-and-a-half ago, it was kind of aggravating because everyone was busy-busy-busy. I wound up spending a lot of meals following a gigantic crowd to fuddle; I wound up spending a lot of afternoons websurfing in the cluster. And, I mean, it was around people. But it wasn't really with people, y'know?

I told myself, okay, from now on I'm going to visit during vacations when people are free.

But I'm planning to visit for Carnival anyway.

Plane tickets are expensive and my income does not easily accommodate such purchases, especially not right now. (edit: roundtrip located for $200! this still causes pain but not as much pain as before).

In my experience, plane tickets to carnival are often worth buying well ahead of time as it is harder to find something cheap closer in. Especially for the leaving on Sunday part.

I miss many old friends. I don't really give a crap about Carnival or Midway or Booth in particular anymore, I just want to see you people again.

Yes.

Come! At the very least register now! You can always unregister later, payment isn't required immediately and it's just Jay after all. ;-)

You should definetly go.

Also, $200?!?
Mine were around $350 and I still consider that a bargain for getting to see everyone again.

I am spending approximately $1400 on my plane tickets for my Carnival trip.

Of course, uh... I have a bit further to go than most people.
