that playful pocket of negative entropy
Jul. 26th, 2005 06:21 amNot having read for fun in a while may have whetted my appetite and thus modulated my judgement about book quality, but I assert that even after factoring that out, The Moon is a Harsh Mistress is an excellent book thus far.
My mind likes to drift sometimes, and it's been increasingly in the habit of aimlessly wandering the internets. To get some more productive use out of it, I've gotten into the habit of instead using my free time to drill かな, with the help of a certain Wikibook. Over the course of the past week, I've learned most of the ひらがな. I'll probably run down the かたかな during this week, and then get started on some real language learning. I'd like to get at least a few basic phrases and grammatical lessons down before I go home next week, so I can train up with my younger sister, who has learned a decent amount of .jp, and in fact will be returning from a two-week trip to Japan at the same time that I get home.
