I'm uninstalling World of Warcraft for the time being. I have a lot of work to do in a very small timeframe, and the game is starting to leave a bitter taste in my mouth.

This is because, after Sixty, there are two options:

1) Player vs Dungeon. Someone sends a message to me of the form "want to do BRS?" which ought to mean "Care to accompany us on our heroic journeys into Blackrock Spire, o holy priestess?" but instead means "come spend useless hours in long instances so we can get phat lootz that you can't use, stress you out by being incompetent, and take your critical party support role for granted".

2) Player vs Player. There are two scenarios. In one scenario there is some brief fighting of some interest with well balanced sides. This is followed by me running around aimlessly with bloodthirsty companions who gangbang things 20 levels below them while I go "wtf mate?". In the other scenario there is some brief fighting of some interest with well balanced sides. This is followed by my 'allies' pulling back the line and leaving me to get assist-trained by 5 miscellaneous damage dealers, unable to flee because of a wonderful gem of game balance called Frost Shock. Of course, there is also the scenario that occurred tonight, which is kind of like the latter scenario described except the ally is my guildleader, who subsequently berates me on voice for not healing him enough and not dealing with the enemy priest, depriving him of his golden opportunity to prickwave. Woo.

Up until this point the game has been fun, I wrote off my PvP weaknesses to lack of practice and low level, and rough spots with pickup groups were smoothed over by the knowledge that I was gaining XP and making progress in the world. Now it's just getting annoying. I will doubtless be back at it later, but for now it's nice to have bitterness counteract the addiction.

Now if only these paper reviews were tolerable. I don't feel at all qualified to do this. Much less 5 of them in 6 hours.

i'll assume the absent 3rd option is to shoot yourself in the head?

Would that make starting a new character the fourth option, then?

I'll note that general consensus has Shadow-specced priests as the nastiest 1v1 PvPers; this goes even more so if they happen to be undead. Unfortunately, if you are shadow specced, people will go ballistic on you for not bringing the "zOMG ph4t heelz" in instances.

You make a good point, though - most people are assholes, and this is true (perhaps more so) on MMORPGs. Instance runs and raids can be great fun with competant, not-annoying people; with random morons, it doesn't go so well 90% of the time. That said, one of the best runs I had was with mostly random people.

What, really? Cool.
I had the impression they had problems versus shadow-resist gear.
