I would like to pick your collective brains to satisfy my curiosity. I am trying to determine the origins of the following terms:

"Your fuck stock is ass prone, nutcocker". I encountered this one somewhere in the bowels of Sexy Losers, though I doubt that it originated there. I don't know precisely what it means, but I can discern the cluster of insults into which it gravitates. Something about the structure of the phrase makes me chuckle every time I read it.

"OMGWTFBBQ". Originally got this in an email about an actual barbecue. Then I started hearing unrelated friends using it. I assume it gestated in the online FPS world, but a more precise origin (and a better bound on what BBQ refers to here) would be helpful.

1. OMGWTFBBQ

A meaningless acronym which most often stands for "Oh My God What The Fuck Barbeque." It most likely originated on Something Awful (somethingawful.com). It can be interpreted simply as gibberish, or used when one wants to emphasize one's own incoherence, lack of understanding, or to mock others.

It usually has an air of mockery, specifically with regard to teenagers who a lot of use three-letter acronyms.

Example #1 (def: incoherence)

Computer Nerd #1: I mean, just because it's https doesn't mean it's fucking legit
Computer Nerd #2: Yeah, I'm sure those idiot script kiddies would love to get their hands on a secure server so they could grab some more AOL passwords before they hit up the child pr0n
Non Computer Nerd: OMGWTFBBQ please kill me

Teenager #1: so i was all like, stacy, if u want a loser like steve for your boyfriend go ahead!!!!

Hmm, there are a couple other explainations, but I think that the first one is the most correct.

This entire acronym came from warcraft/starcraft players who came across the korean word, BBa Q (which koreans use to pronounce F**k You).

Oh my god what the fuck BBa You! The barbeque is bullshti!

Originating from Somethingawful.com, this word was originally used as a surname for one of the writers there. It was meant to mock the use of acronyms on games like CS and programs like AOL. It was popularized on CS, ironically, when people began to say it as rejection of people who overused these phrases.

Counter-Strike Player 1: OMG that st00pid AWP N00b sh0t m3 b4 i could see him!! WTF!!? What an @asshole!

Counter-Strike Player 2: OMGWTFBBQ, SHUT UP!!

Sometimes used as an expression meaning "Oh my God, What the Fuck, be back quick!" in a chat room indicating something extraordinary has happened irl and the chatter is checking it out.

I find urbandictionary.com very useful. I am not 'up on the slang', so I reference there a lot. It is really amazing some of the things that you can find there.

My perception of its usage mostly overlaps this description, though it also covers incredulity, disbelief, and frustration with a situation. In that case I've interpreted the BBQ to mean being burned by unusally poor luck. For example, one of my friends on WoW kept getting passed up for the loot he really wanted, since it was being randomly assigned and kept landing on some guy who was only temporarily in our party, so we couldn't negotiate to get it back from him. This prompted an OMGWTFBBQ from him.

Hmm, I have never personally heard it used (or seen it rather), but it does seem like it could be one of the new 'frustrations' used in short message system...

On a more careful inspection of the sexy losers archives (read: I can't sleep), it would seem that the phrase might well be a SL original, since the other quotes from that same character have a similar pattern.

I do believe that stuff said by Cursing Guy is generally originated from Cursing Guy.

As for OMGWTFBBQ, do not forget its further exaggerated cousing ZOMGWTFBBQ. Moreover, should I actually host a KoL barbeque like I was planning to (though interest/time for that game has waned with the arrival of WoW), the forum thread announcing it will be named "ZOMGWTFKOLFLBBQ".

So, ZOMG actually has a typo to thank for its 'etymology'. Notice the proximity of Shift and Z on most keyboards. ZOMG came from people hitting Z along with Shift when going to type OMG.

Any way, the previous posts have explained much of the bbq aspect of omgwtfbbq, which has been built upon and exaggerated by communities including and akin to the SA forums, which have the ability to mock leet speak in jest to the point where they begin to take it seriously and propagate their own dialect thereof.
