Succumbed to illness over the weekend, still have a few lingering symptoms, such as sore throat. These should probably fade in a few days.
Recently finished Heinlein's Stranger in a Strange Land. Very good book. I like Smith and the 'Martian' philosophy-religion, or at least its component pieces, a lot. I am even beginning to grok grok. Jubal Harshaw was my favorite character though, even above Smith. I would even guess that Heinlein was inserting himself as Jubal in places. :-)
I posted a response or two to the old thread, up to but not including
naufiel. I was going to try one-a-day, but the aforementioned illness kicked in and interfered with that plan.
Took my younger brother and sister to larping fight practice on Monday night. Younger brother was somewhat discouraged, younger sister pulled her leg and didn't feel very well-suited to the game. She probably won't be coming to N/S War, oh well.
I am somewhat sad about the fact that I'll probably only see Julie once before next semester, and she's rarely on AIM or anything so it's tough to get a hold of her. Le sigh, c'est la vie.
Other highlights? Not really.

Date: 2003-06-04 01:07 am (UTC)I've in the past couple years come to the conclusion that I much prefer a work that challenges my views and gives me a lot to think about over something that tries to give a heavy handed argument for one view. The fact that Heinlein's views are quite a bit different from mine doesn't help the situation. I guess this more founded on my opinion that broad philosophies are a bad idea usually - you miss the particulars.
