tequila the friendly ghost

tiedyedaveYesterday afternoon I got an email entitled OMG WTF BBQ @ CR @ 5PM. So, rather than sit on my ass on a Saturday night, I went to Chaos Ranch and had some fun. I had a few drinks and a good time; we all went to see Team America, so I got a second viewing; I still chuckled heartily.

foolmonkey was making drinks and asked if I had a preference; I told him to make me something of his choosing. He chose a "Tequila Ghost", which is roughly equal parts clear tequila and ouzo. It made me momentarily nauseous, but not because of the alcohol so much as the anise *shudder*. But now I have empirically verified that indrani_prime's description of ouzo is correct, and I am a better alcoholic person for the experience.
I spent a healthy portion of my waking hours today doing some housecleaning. Vacuuming, scrubbing, dishes, etc. The place looks better and I feel better.
I have also spent an unhealthy portion of today, and for that matter an unhealthy portion of the last week, playing Super Metroid. It's, well, super. Though playing them in the order Metroid > Metroid Prime > Super Metroid is a little odd; I keep recognizing the predecessors of things found in Metroid Prime. My favorite crossover experience was descending into Ridley's lair, and hearing a grander, more wicked variation on the Magmoor Caverns theme. I have to say that I very much like Super Metroid's music all around, though perhaps some of the enjoyment stems from the musical characteristics being similar to some of my other favorite games, like Final Fantasy VI and Chrono Trigger.
