I'm having quite a wonderful day.

Finished my second assignment for the week yesterday. As a consequence, I got more sleep (and better sleep) last night.

Lecture in PL this morning was the first on type theory, which made me understandably happy, especially when Cook described the distinctions between static/dynamic typing and weak/strong typing, pointing out that Java's typing is strong (does not admit a certain set of errors) but only partially static (some checks occur at runtime).

I finished next week's PL homework today (some exercises in lambda calculus & write a short lambda calculus interpreter in Haskell). Given that there's no homework for feature oriented programming in the near future, all I have for work right now is catching up on class readings and doing independent research.

I spent a good chunk of this evening doing grocery shopping, which always makes me happy. (Though it's nice to be cheered up by a simple act like buying groceries, it's a double-edged sword; I sometimes buy more than I can reasonably eat ^_^). I have discovered that the 338 bus goes to not one, not two, but three different grocery stores in succession (Whole Foods, Central Market, HEB). Plus, I recently found out that the Cameron Road shuttle (which takes me home) merges with the Red River shuttle (which goes to HEB) on evenings and Sundays. Upshot: My grocery trips are essentialy door-to-door.

Today I also managed to find all of the random culinary things I had been needing: MSG-free beef broth, grilled eel, unsalted mirin, and an 11.5" cast iron skillet. I also stumbled on some Woodchuck at Central Market ...

... which I am now drinking. ^_^

I recently found out (from various sources, including a conversation with a guy who rides the CR shuttle and also happens to handle taxes for the state of Texas) that I can actually be a resident of Texas for tax purposes; it's only in-state tuition calculations that hinge on my student-ness. As a result, I won't have to pay any state income tax after this year; the Massachusetts Department of Revenue can kindly fuck off and die ^_^. w00t.

Y'all have a nice evening now too, y'hear? ;-)
