Really fucking cool article from Discovery. It's about a technology that turns many kinds of waste (turkey scraps, sewage, tires, old appliances) into minerals and fossil fuels.

And it's energy efficient. This will officially un-fuck the 21st century.

In other news.

My powers of dancedance are increasing rapidly, as are rjmccall's and sleepsong's. The learning curve is encouraging and full of healthy exercise. :-)

I've rewritten the syntax, subtype/partial-order, and reduction rules for processes and process types. Adding if-then-else now, by inventing new syntax and then waving my hands a lot. Hopefully I can prove subject reduction and a few other theorems, and have a good chunk of work to show Pfenning for tomorrow's meeting, which is my nominal "liveline" for the research. The deadline is officially Monday morning, realistically Saturday afternoon. Things are looking OK.

Spent a long night curled up with my favorite research. Breakfast at Pamela's. Went to CS lounge, where I alternately slept and proved subject reduction. I clobbered together the 11 pages of results and took them to Pfenning's office. He seemed encouraged that I was actually able to get through the proofs. So apparently he's going to be unavailable until Sunday, which means I have until then to summon a write-up. Doing the write-up doesn't bother me, and getting a low grade for this wouldn't bother me either. What bothers me is that I'm making Pfenning spend a Sunday afternoon chipping through my crappy work, and I hate to do that to a nice professor. Damnit.

Not fast enough.
