Calm Lands
Dec. 6th, 2002 02:23 amThe storm is beginning to subside. She despaired, I raged. We sat down and talked for a while. And then we talked some more. After that, there was more talking, which continues. As a result, things have stabilized. We continue to be good friends. As it stands, she will be returning next semester. Thusly, my Number One Objective All The Time Ever may still see completion.
Things change. There are forces at work here that I still do not understand, and perhaps never will. But all is well, for the raytracer is done (and looks really fucking cool!), Algorithms is on its way, and 312 will be mostly done in the remaining time.
Unfortunately, I didn't get a chance to talk to Pfenning about research opportunities, since there were FCEs on Tuesday and I missed Thursday's class. Perhaps I will email him and ask about reading papers over winter break. A query to those more knowledgeable: Is this a good plan? How exactly do I get into research without being able to parse a tenth of the research papers I find?
I go, I go, see how I go. To work and to sleep and to enjoy this blue rope light that doubles as a nightlight and triples as a space heater.
