Heard a murmur on facebook about how inactive livejournal accounts could be deleted, and before I could say "wait I wonder if that is actually true", I found myself on livejournal. It is very weird but not quite unpleasant to flip through my last few livejournal posts before I went silent; it looks like I have been gone for over three years.

For as much as my physical circumstances have remained relatively unchanged (still in Austin, still in grad school, and so on), I get the sense reading through these entries that Everything Is Different Now. It is strange and incongruous to me to have gone through such major psychological shifts "in place", as it were.

The thing in those past entries to which I reacted most strongly, simultaneously with amusement and profound discomfort, was my past self's prediction that I would "finish my dissertation by the end of 2010". Umm, no. Missed that one by over 2 years, and still counting. I do not think I am ready to process that yet. Maybe in a few months.

How are you, friends on livejournal? I missed you. I missed you so much that I forgot I missed you and there was just an unidentified hole in my life. (There are lots of those lately. But I remain optimistic.)

I have not; saved the list somewhere, but there isn't much room in my budget at the moment, so I can't actually pick up anything new. :-/ indeed.

I'm good, I changed jobs a few times, and now doing my own start-up, but things have actually been pretty good since 2010.

hello! Nice to see you :-) I'm well, I'm a college professor at a small school in Oregon which is pretty nice. If you're still in Austin in February, I'm headed there for a conference! Would be neat to see you in person and catch up on psychological shifts.

Keep me posted on where you are - especially if on the West Coast, I can get there pretty easily. Come to Oregon, it's fantastic!

Life is good. Cat and I are extremely casually investigating buying a house. I've been working on my blues and jazz piano, but it needs a lot of work. There is a lot of exciting stuff going on with compilers at Apple, and as always the worst part is that I can't talk about most of it with the friends who I think would care.

It will. We're looking most closely at Bernal Heights, but really anywhere on the axis from there to the Lower Haight, I think.

Still in San Diego. I pong ponged around the big companies here, but have returned somewhat suddenly to pure EE. Also, I've been running a lot. I think I too have been shifting greatly in place.

*hug* was excited to see you post! Happy to get an update.

I live in SF now. Moved here for a job and to get away from DC and the end of a long relationship. Just recently left that job to do a startup with some people building toys to teach kids programming. Unlike any other time you've known me pretty much, there's no boyfriend. Busy as usual with my regular list of hobbies though I've added one: curling.

Oh and now I live with dr4b and pky. If you remember them.

If you even remember me.
